A Soft Global Precedence Constraint
Hard and soft precedence constraints play a key role in many application domains. In telecommunications, one application is the configuration of callcontrol feature subscriptions where the task is to sequence a set of user-selected features subject to a set of hard (catalogue) precedence constraints and a set of soft (user-selected) precedence constraints. When no such consistent sequence exist...
متن کاملPrecedence Constraint Posting for Cyclic Scheduling Problems
Resource constrained cyclic scheduling problems consist in planning the execution over limited resources of a set of activities, to be indefinitely repeated. In such a context, the iteration period (i.e. the difference between the completion time of consecutive iterations) naturally replaces the makespan as a quality measure; exploiting inter-iteration overlapping is the primary method to obtai...
متن کاملTopological Dependency Trees: A Constraint-Based Account of Linear Precedence
We describe a new framework for dependency grammar, with a modular decomposition of immediate dependency and linear precedence. Our approach distinguishes two orthogonal yet mutually constraining structures: a syntactic dependency tree and a topological dependency tree. The syntax tree is nonprojective and even non-ordered, while the topological tree is projective and partially ordered.
متن کاملIncremental Maintenance of Double Precedence Graphs: A Constraint-Based Approach
Reasoning on precedence relations is crucial for many planning and scheduling systems. In this paper we propose a double precedence graph where direct precedence relations are kept additionally to traditional precedence relations (A can directly precede B if no activity must be allocated between A and B). Such precedence relations are motivated by solving problems like modelling sequence-depend...
